Evolving fashion is dynamic and sometimes it is very subtle. Dancing dresses of the Gampola period offer important and unique material to study the evolution of fashion. Gampola was the central phase of a divided kingdom which started in 1335AD and lasted for nearly seventy years (till 1408AD), headed by four kings. By having external political and cultural assimilations from South India the dress fashions evolved from time to time and stage by stage. However while having a sequence of modifications and formulations in dress details the evolution never caused a change in the basic form of the dance dress. Always it intended to keep the form of the dress right through history.en_US
