Abstract
The Fisheries Sector has gained importance in its economic structure in the modern world. The
Fisheries industry is a major industry in the first level of economy and has been a traditional industry
since its inception. The Fisheries sector faces many problems and privations on a globally in today’s
world. Illegal activity was increased in the fisheries industry, which is a major economic component of
the Northern Province. Marine resources are being effect by illegal fishing activities. Brush Pile Fishing is
seen as a traditional industry, though, Nowadays it is associated with illegal Brush Pile Fishing activities
and the socio economic ecological impacts and their background were carried out using Descriptive
methods in the particular area in Mannar District. Primary data were collected from the field,
observation and interview. As a result of the study, It was Observed that Socio economic ecological
impacts of the illegal Brush Pile Fishing activities. This Study will be useful to minimize the Socio
economic and ecological impacts and maintaining Sustainable Development.
