dc.description.abstractThe importance of non-mandatory training is rapidly growing across the globe to raise it to a level near to that of compulsory training. However, research evidence indicates that if the training is non-mandatory, employees are generally reluctant to participate in training programs. The purpose of this paper is to identify and explain the employees’ participation in non-mandatory trainings and explore the factors which influence employees’ participation in non-mandatory training program. For this purpose, the researcher focus the survey method and select 10 financial institutions in Sri Lanka, from that the researcher selected 120 employees. The result reveals that employees are not willing to participate in the training programs which are non-mandatory or voluntary in nature. Further in this paper the important factors which influence the employees’ participation in the context of non-mandatory training were discussed.en_US
